Today’s perfectly Innocent Postcard is brought to you by the daring adventurer and entrepreneur Hannah Herrick of No Worries Soap. Thanks for sharing your wild woman wisdom, Hannah!

Contrary to the anxiety most people feel when they think about rock bottom, it is the most empowering place on the planet.

You get to start over!

When I was 17, my family moved from North Carolina to Washington State.  Moving from a town of ~900 people to a city with ~225,000 people tossed me against the stones and hard.

I hit rock bottom.  But I got to start over, and it was wonderful.

When I was 21, I moved from Washington State to New Orleans, Louisiana.  I had never been separated from my family, I was young, and I was terrified.

I hit rock bottom.  But I got to start over, and it was wonderful.

Fast forward to 2005 when mean ol’ Hurricane Katrina’s waters washed us over to Houston, Texas.  I had never even visited Texas and here I was living in the 3rd largest city in the nation.  I knew not even one person, I had no money to speak of, and I was terrified.

I hit rock bottom.  But I got to start over, and it was wonderful.

We are now planning our next move!  We have no idea where we are going, we have no idea how we are going to earn a living, and we won’t have any friends or family to lean on.

The only inspiration, the only driving force we have in the next leg of our journey is a single image.  This Innocent Postcard is reminiscent of the desktop background I’ve had for the past two years. I see it every-single-day and it reminds me of the future I want to have.

We are going to hit rock bottom.  We are going to start over, and it is going to be wonderful.
