Want to drop an Innocent Postcard of your own?
Here’s how.

THE MESSAGE

What sort of messages do agents of Eris deliver?

Imagine the sort of message you needed to hear most at a crossroads in your life or at a time when you felt vulnerable and afraid. Consider what you wish you’d known a little bit earlier in life, some trick or tip that’s made your days more interesting or, at least, endurable. What have you learned over the course of your life that has helped you become more thoughtful, more adventurous, more confident, more joyful, more YOU?

Your message may be related to a book that you read that changed your life, or it may be a habit that you learned that helps you cope when the cards seem stacked against you. It may be something your mother told you as a child or something that you learned the hard way from years of beating your head against a wall. Your message may be about revolution or it may be about acceptance – the fact is, there’s someone who needs both.

At heart, a message from an agent of Eris encourages girls of all ages and backgrounds to be BOLD and FREE and HAPPY!

THE MISSION

What sort of missions do agents of Eris assign?

A mission is just an activity that might nudge someone in the direction of a more fun, fulfilling, or engaged existence. It could be a yoga pose that you find particularly cool or a daily art practice that you’d recommend to someone trying to shake up her life. It might be a reflective journal prompt that you find valuable or a thought experiment that changed the way you see the world. It might even be an easy, delicious recipe that you think everyone should know! It’s simply a rewarding, uplifting, or mindful way to spend a few minutes of your busy day.

From Les Stone Cold Killers

In addition to being girls, Perilous and Sparks were naturally possessed of two other traits The Big Boss considered critical to espionage and propaganda: mental agility and ethical independence. A slew of supplementary talents – martial arts, close quarters combat, lock picking, et al. – were honed by the agency before they’d gone into the field for the first time a year earlier.

A few tips from the chief agente provocatrice to help you get started
  • Remember it’s a postcard, not a missive. Limit your message to 300 or fewer words and your mission to 100 or fewer.

  • Keep the message and the mission related. For example, if your message is about how a self defense class empowered you, the mission might be to learn one practical self-defense move. Extra points for providing a super short video instruction of the move.

  • Use a moment from your life to illustrate your message in order to engage your reader in a story.

  • Imagine that you’re talking with a girlfriend – keep it natural, sis.

  • Make your missions fun, free (or cheap), and achievable.

  • If you’ve been recording your yoga practice or your daily sketches on Instagram, use those visuals to add a personal touch. This is about encouraging beginners and beginner mind, so don’t worry about glamming yourself up. The more “ordinary” you appear, the more approachable you’ll be. (Don’t worry. We all know your “ordinary” is just another disguise.)

  • Don’t let your shabby spelling or your punctuation phobia prevent you from sharing your ideas. We’ll take time to proofread and smooth out the rough spots.

  • If you’d like to gently plug an independent female artist, writer, or entrepreneur in your postcard, go for it. But avoid being sales pitchy.

  • Don’t worry about the actual postcard. That’ll be handled in-house, but I welcome suggestions regarding the postcard locale. Give your hometown a shout out, or if you just wanna get outta town, tell me your dream destination!
